no brake lights after repair

I discovered one of the wires to the connector was loose, and my high mount brake light was out. My brake lights no longer function after I installed a new connector

The fuse is fine, according to my check. I doubt it's the brake light sensor because there are no driving problems and the transmission isn't locked

Any ideas what else it could be? I would be grateful for the assistance

Uhm a loose or poorly crimped wire at the new connector could be breaking the circuit

Could be a bad ground, pinched wire, or issue with the new connector itself. Did you check for power at the brake light side of the connector with a test light? Might be worth double-checking the wiring order too, easy to mix a pin

Since you've checked the fuse and doubt it's the brake light switch, it really points back to that new connector or something in the wiring around it like what everyone else here said.

you can try to check wiring diagrams available for your make and model.

could it be also that there any chance a wire might have been swapped or not fully connected, or a different wire got damaged nearby during the work? Wirings are very tricky. hope you get it resolved soon!

An issue related to the new connector would also be my first guess, but have you checked if you've accidentally pulled a wire loose from another part of the harness further up the line?
Maybe try a quick continuity test on the wires leading into and out of the connector, and even a bit further back.
That might reveal a break you can't see!
